Nestled in Carlisle, England Miracle's Mission is an oasis for rescue dogs looking for a second chance at a new life. Miracle's Mission works with the hardest to adopt dogs, often taking in dogs that are sick, injured, and disabled from all over the world. The non-profit rehabilitates the dogs and works to find them the perfect place for them to call home. This year's calendar contest features one of the rescue's newest additions, Danny who was rescued from Romania. Hear about this incredible rescue dog from Miracle's Mission founder Victoria Bryceson:
Meet Danny
Danny is a gorgeous loveable naughty boy! He was hit by a car in Romania at just a few months old. He was luckily rescued from the side of the road and taken to a vets where he was on crate rest for 2 months. He then came to Miracle's Mission in the UK for specialist assessment. His spine was found to be broken in several places as well as several healed ribs that had also been broken at the same time. Danny's prognosis was that he would never knowingly walk again but he has a lot of leg reflex movement so he may learn some level of spinal walking even though the chance is very small.
How a Wheelchair Changed His Life
He is the most happy and active puppy we have ever seen and he is constantly on the go all day getting into mischief. He has never been sad, he just accepts how he is and gets on with his life. Literally nothing holds him back. Danny absolutely adores his wheels. Because Danny can't use his back legs but he has so much energy and he just wants to go go go all the time, his wheels allow him to do just that. They give him the speed and freedom that he was so desperate for.
He is so full of energy and so fast that these allow him to race around like a normal puppy does and burn off all of his energy. He would be extremely proud to be featured in a calendar to show other dogs just how happy they can be in wheels.
Why You Should Adopt a Special Needs Pet
Special needs pets are the best pets you could ever ever hope for. The love and care that they give back to you is indescribable. They know that they need that little bit of extra care and that you give it to them and the bond that they form with you is so so strong, it is truly a beautiful feeling. Special needs pets generally do not need that much extra care and while so many people think that they can't manage or their house isn't suitable that isn't the case at all. These pets just want to live their lives and race around and play just as fully able bodied pets do. They don't want you to feel sorry for them and stop them from doing things, they just want to join in with everyone else as to them they don't see themselves as being any different.
